The Engagement Session. While some might merely see a young couple, in love, just starting their life together, the Engagement photographs have much more significance than that. Generations to come, especially any children the couple might have in the future, will look back on those pictures and the stories they tell.

Children seldom see their parents as individuals in their own right. They often fail to realize they were children and young adults once upon a time. What made them happy? What did they enjoy doing? Were they outgoing, quiet, dreamers, doers?

Photographs capture more than images. They can capture the essence of who a person or persons are. That is the real challenge to any photographer, to get beyond the surface and find the true person beneath. There is only one chance, maybe a scant hour or two, to transfer the individuals’ personalities and dreams to film.
